Pay Attention to the Food You Eat, It May Save Your Life!
Posted by: | Comments
Do I smell like garlic? Probably, I eat enough for a family of 10! Yes, I am Italian, but that is only part of my decision to load up on this healthy food.
As I expand my knowledge base in the health and wellness arena, I have become increasingly aware of the critical role the food we eat, not only how much but our choices, plays in our health and well-being. Both our physical and mental well-being depends on the fuel we feed our bodies, this vehicle that carries us through life.
Most of you have followed me on this blog as I successfully dealt with an extremely high cholesterol level with changing my food choices, a paradigm shift for me that was not that difficult. I would like to now share with you a short video from Ted.com, which features William Li, President and Medical Director of the Angiogenesis Foundation, the title “Can We Eat to Prevent Cancer”. It is a 24 minute video and I highly recommend you watch it, whether you are concerned with getting cancer or just interested in learning more about staying healthy. It is worth your time.
Dr. Li talks about angiogenesis, something I know a little about after having researched antiangio-
genesis for possible treatment for my niece, who had breast cancer, and my friend, who had lung cancer. Angiogenesis is the body’s process of developing new blood vessels. Abnormal angiogenesis can feed cancerous tumors. Antiangiogenesis is the process of starving tumors by cutting back their blood supply. We can do this with drugs, but we can also address this with the foods we eat.
Dr. Li explains how much of the food we eat has naturally occuring inhibitors of angiogenesis. Something we should pay attention to since our diets account for 30-35% of the environmentally caused cancers.
Angiogenesis may also apply to obesity since fat tissue is highly dependent on angiogenesis.
Can we be proactive in our approach to cancer, obesity, and other diseases by the food choices we make? Are you willing to add tomatoes, red grapes, green tea and strawberries to your diet for your health and well-being? Please let me know your thoughts after you watch this very worthwhile video.

Can You Be Happy While Working Toward Your Dream?

I was walking Roxie, the wonder dog, this morning and I was in awe of all the beauty that was around me. One of my core values is nature. When I stay ‘in the moment” and use all my five senses to appreciate my surroundings, the regenerating power of nature is amazing. The flowering trees, blue Carolina sky, singing birds, scent of something blooming and the coolness of the morning air make me realize how fortunate I am. All of this feeds my soul and sets the tone for my day.
We have all heard “it is the journey, not the destination”, but how many of us really take the time to focus on the abundance that surrounds us daily. We rush around like the Mad Hatter and miss the joy that comes with simple things. Can we learn to appreciate the journey while we work toward our goals and dreams?
What would it take for you to be more connected to the energy around you? Would you be willing to practice getting better at being “in the moment”. It doesn’t have to be in your favorite space, it can be anywhere. You are learning a new skill. A skill that will help you stay connected to the Universe and all the abundance that surrounds you.
Start by “seeing”! When you really look, Read More→
The Law of Attraction
Posted by: | CommentsI truly believe in the Law of Attraction and it is working full force in my life right now. I am attracting into my life opportunities to help people who are ready to take responsibility for their health and well-being.
I was in the grocery store the other night and was approached by a young man with a weight loss book in his hand and a long list of “things to buy”. He had a very confused look on his face and asked me if I had ever heard of this author and if I knew what raw butter was. We didn’t find raw butter, but what was interesting to me was the fact that he thought the “light butter” was the best choice. When we looked at the “light butter” and all the artificial ingredients and dextrose that was added, I told him the regular butter was a much better choice. I then handed him my business card with this blog address and told him about my recent lifestyle and diet change and my reduction in weight and cholesterol. The young man said meeting me was like meeting a mechanic when your car was broken down. I loved that analogy!
When you decide to take control of your health and well-being and change your eating pattern, it shouldn’t be hard. If you are having to carry books to the grocery store with you and look for esoteric ingredients, there is a good chance you will not stick with this new way of eating. I am going to suggest a book to you that was given to me by my neighbor. This book has been out for several years, but it will give you a solid understanding of the “basics”. The book is Read More→
How I Dropped My Cholesterol 68 Points in 2 Months!
Posted by: | CommentsWell, I had my follow up appointment yesterday with my preventive cardiologist, on my birthday, and got wonderful news. I have dropped my total cholesterol from 324 to 256 in two months!! A 68 point drop, almost 30%! Wow, and they said it couldn’t be done! LDL, bad cholesterol, went from 224 to 163, a reduction of 61 points. Of course, the numbers are still too high, but it is going in the right direction and quickly. And, how did I do this?
Those of you following me know that I have made a huge lifestyle change. I have totally changed my diet, a true paradigm shift, and it has paid off in my lab numbers, and also in weight loss. (You can read about it in previous blog posts.)
Diet plays such a big part in our health and when you take the time to evaluate what you are eating, you may be suprised at what you find. I know I was. I never ate a lot of processed foods, but my other choices were not that healthful. Cheese, white flour, pasta, rice, potatoes, diet Coke, all things that have been eliminated from my diet. I also took red rice yeast supplements, which is a natural statin. I thought the diet change would be difficult for me, but Read More→
EFT~I Think I Finally Understand How It Works!

EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, energy meridian tapping, emotional acupuncture, it has many names. This is one of the many mind body techniques or tools that I teach in my practice and have used myself and with many of my clients with great success. To explain exactly how it works has always eluded the many, many teachers including Gary Craig, who is responsible for taking the practice from Dr. Roger Callahan and fine tuning it and making it user friendly. He is the one credited with its huge success throughout the country.
Although EFT works and there are many theories about how it works, I have not come up with one that made sense to me, until recently. The more I study energy, the more EFT, or tapping makes perfect sense. Here is my theory with some background on EFT.
EFT is a form of “psychological or emotional acupuncture”. It uses the ancient Chinese meridian system to relieve psychological stress and physiological pain. It balances our energy system with a light fingertip tapping on acupoints on the face and body. It restores balance to our body’s energy by Read More→

Last night I listened to a teleconference featuring Sonia Choquette, psychic, sixth sense guru. My goal is to someday be a peer to the Sonia Choquettes of the world. I keep working on my mind body, quantum energy knowledge base and hope to be there soon.
Her talk was about manifesting the life you desire, and coming from Sonia, it had a psychic, spiritual focus. There are many ways to convey this information. Some will hear this message more clearly because it is more heart based. It is a very important message and because I feel connected to the message, I am sending this energy out to you.
Sonia gave 4 steps to manifesting your heart’s desire.

Why High Cholesterol and Preventive Cardiology Go Hand-In-Hand
Posted by: | CommentsYesterday was my first experience with preventive cardiology. Those of you following this blog know I have had high cholesterol for many, many years, but as I age, the LDL or bad cholesterol continues upward for a total of 324. Pretty high!
Since I am a coach and wellness consultant and work with others to make lifestyle changes, I chose to take more control of my life and health and have been on a non-inflammatory, very heart healthy diet and have even lost a few pounds. You can read about my diet and weight loss in my previous posts.
My meeting with Dr. Barringer and his nurse, Jane, was a great experience. They seemed to appreciate my attempt at wellness through lifestyle change and diet. Yes, my cholesterol numbers are HIGH, but Read More→

How I Am Treating High Cholesterol with Diet and Lifestyle Changes
Posted by: | CommentsA few weeks ago I received the results of my latest blood work. Everything looked pretty good except for really high cholesterol and a somewhat low white blood count. The high cholesterol is nothing new for me. I have had high numbers every time I am tested, but what was new this time is how high the numbers were. Total cholesterol 324, HDL 88, good cholesterol, and LDL, bad cholesterol, 224, triglycerides 67. Because of the high HDL numbers, I have felt somewhat protected over the years, but with the LDL numbers so high, Read More→
